Chapter 8

This must be what purgatory feels like. Or hell. Nah, not hell. It’s too close to heaven for that.

Fuck, a Wolf could only take so much. Binder bit back his groan. Why did she have to smell so good? All his favorite things combined, and a few he didn’t even know he liked. Like wildflowers and peach blossoms. Honey and habaneros. Perfect. She smelled perfect.

As if that was the only thing that kept him awake. Oh no. The gods weren’t that kind. Instead, they’d made sure his gorgeous little Butterfly was a wiggly little thing when she slept.

“Geezus H. Christ,” he muttered, and Shannon sighed in her sleep as if in response.

Oops. He wasn’t trying to wake her. But he was about ten more seconds from losing his shit completely. Gazing down at her angel face, relaxed in sleep, Binder felt his heart swell. He believed in magic. Of course he did.

But he’d always been something of a skeptic when it came to believing in fated mates. And yet, here she was. In his arms. And a million miles away for all the good it did him. His Wolf scratched at his skin, the animal wanting to mark the female with his bite, to sink into her sweet, slick heat and claim her as his own.

Her lips pursed in her sleep, as if she’d heard every thought in his head. Thank goodness that wasn’t the case. He’d already had ten or twenty wildly dirty fantasies playing out in his mind during the last few hours. Her breathing was even though, so she was still out, even as she snuggled up tighter against his taut body.

Bloody hell.

He’d managed a few hours of shuteye, but the second he felt her turn to face him, it was all over. Shannon lifted her warm thigh, having apparently taken off her jeans when he was out. She wore nothing but her shirt, no bra, and a pair of white cotton panties covering her cleft. Yeah, he checked. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, the woman lifted her left leg and draped over both of his thighs. Her knee pressed up against his rock hard cock, and there was just no fucking way he was going back to sleep.

Need her. Want her. Claim her. Now.

Shut the fuck up, Wolf. We’re not claiming her when she’s sleeping.

And so it went for the last twenty minutes. Binder and his Wolf were locked in an argument over the ethics of claiming a mate whilst she slept, and it got so heated, he was soon growling. His chest rumbled and Shannon stirred. Fuck. he hadn’t meant to wake her. But maybe this was good.

“Mmm, Binder?”

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you, Butterfly,” he growled.

She stretched and pressed herself more fully against him and fuck, it felt so good. She was so soft and warm, his arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer.

“That feels nice,” she whispered her big blue eyes blinking sleepily at him.

“I’m glad you think so.
